Spinach stalk / stem soup


Spinach stalk / stem soup

This is a very healthy clear soup. Using a spinach stalks / stems is the best way to use up all that which you purchase or have grown. This is a basic soup but you are welcome to add whatever you want to spice it up ;-j

Preparation Time :5 minutes

Cooking Time : 20 minutes

Serves 4


Half a bunch (5-8) spinach stems / stalks chopped roughly

1  Onion chopped

1 teaspoon oil

Salt to taste

2 cloves crushed garlic  

a pinch turmeric powder

1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds powder

1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper

Water 1250 ml


  1. Add the chopped spinach stem to a medium pot with the onion, cumin and pepper, turmeric, salt, garlic, oil and some water
  2. Bring the contents to a boil
  3. Cook till the Spinach stems / Stalks become soft
  4. Filter the contents using a strainer to get the clear soup
  5. Garnish the soup with some fresh spinach leaves
  6. Bon Appetit ;-j
